media:
slumdog millionaire, earth 2, glee

events:
shuju play invited us to the "25th annual putnam county spelling bee." sven & i also attended ten tiny taiko dances. al & mike invited us to dinner. sven & i tried pitxi.

natural events:
i can't believe all the rain & cold. so disappointing. apparently i need to vacation somewhere for the summer where there actually is a summer. but we went on our regular solstice walk on powell butte, which is lovely as always. though it was actually clear enough to see the partial lunar eclipse, i couldn't manage it while working, and the rest of the cloudy days kept me from seeing comet mcnaught. i finally gave up on the garden this year; even the loyal raspberries are acting oddly, coming in strange 4-5 seeds clumps rather than forming whole berries.

jobs:
one phases of the census ended and another is beginning soon. i did a standardized patient shift at wsu for the first time. bothpieces is still kicking along w/ 2 clients (but no website yet. ha!). decided not to leap back into backline, even though it's up & running again (hooray!).

biking:
would still like to be doing more of this, but i did a few impressive & fun rides. for instance, i managed to make two trips to the little red bike cafe before it closed. went out to the edgefield a couple of time in one week to pick up something for my dad's birthday and to hang out on their porch & read. managed to make it out to oxbow park but had to ask sven to come get me when i realized i wasn't going to make it up the giant hill in time to make our dinner reservation. even made it out to ikea. i've become pretty comfortable getting through ladd's addition and over the hawthorne bridge; also, i enjoy going over mt tabor as long as i don't pass anyone. :) at this point there's not much in portland i wouldn't bike to, given a chance.

and this is the season for pedalpalooza (2+ weeks of scheduled bike fun): i only went on 3.5 rides, but they were fun. getting to know sam at the ebike ride was enjoyable, and i appreciated the sol popsicles he bought for us. we also spent some time in a parking lot, trying out each other's bikes. i was delighted my polka-dotted dress helped inspire lisa to wear beautiful things while riding rather than "bike schlub" outfits, as she called them. seeing cute girls on bikes certainly helped inspire -my- bicycling! the ebike ride is the longest ride i've ever been on; it was 43.5 miles when you count the ride to the ebike store and home again. other pedalpalooza rides included the "blessing of the bikes," the fat girls ride, and the hidden se connections ride (which was disappoiningly canceled after we had assembled).

but i've had a couple of unpleasant experiences: one night while biking home in the rain after visiting michaelmas, some guys waiting for a bus jumped into the bike lane to hassle me. i was scared and wet and tired, so i didn't respond appropriately as a bike ambassador. when i yelled "fuck you!" at them they seemed offended. later, on one of my trips to the lrbc, a white truck ran a red light and just barely missed me; i actually had to pull over for a bit and compose myself.

other notable items: i was delighted to be interviewed at pdxebiker as an "ebike success story." i've been heading to the farmer's markets, which makes biking a real pleasure. i made the leaderboard on trailguru (highest rank: 9). and sven & i attended the holgate bike lane meeting.
